Pain
The Port of Brisbane was preparing its PortBris 2060 initiative, an ambitious 40-year vision for Australia’s leading port and logistics hub. The project required engagement with over 700 stakeholders, including industry, government, community and internal teams, each with unique priorities and expectations. Without a structured engagement approach, the Port risked fragmented input, misalignment across teams, and resistance to change. These challenges threatened the ability to translate stakeholder insights into a robust, future-ready strategy capable of supporting sustainable growth, innovation, and long-term value creation.
Solution
Struber delivered a comprehensive stakeholder engagement program to support PortBris 2060’s strategic objectives. The team co-developed a bespoke Stakeholder Engagement Framework, conducted rigorous stakeholder mapping using an advanced assessment matrix, and adapted Struber’s Golden 30 methodology to identify key influencers. Multi-channel engagement was implemented, including one-on-one interviews, focus groups, community workshops, industry roundtables, internal Town Halls, online surveys, school programs, and tailored creative content. Struber also introduced a “listening champions” initiative to strengthen internal alignment and embed cultural change. The program ensured that insights from stakeholders informed decision-making and supported the Port in maintaining strategic, operational, and investment readiness.
Result
The engagement program strengthened alignment and visibility across diverse stakeholder groups. Collaboration improved, stakeholder buy-in increased, and clarity around PortBris 2060 objectives was enhanced. The structured approach created a foundation for evidence-based decision-making, supporting the Port in planning for resilient, sustainable, and innovative operations. Struber’s contribution helped the Port progress towards a unified, future-focused roadmap that balanced community, industry, and internal priorities while positioning it for confident long-term operational and investment decisions.
